My Verse

Love is in the air. We see love everyday, everywhere. A lot of songs, movies, books, and poems are about love. People fall in love everyday. They fall in love with nature, literature, animals but most importantly, they fall in love with each other. The poems "Alone" by Edgar Allan Poe, "The Wall Hanging I Never Noticed" by Dorothea Lasky and the song "Love Song" by Sara Bareilles say a lot about love.

Edgar Allan Poe wrote this poem "Alone" in the autograph album of Lucy Holmes Balderston. It was published in 1875 which was after Poe had passed away. This was one of the few works of Poe that was revealing of Poe and was not filled with irony and mystery. This poem shows the real emotions of Poe. It shows that he struggled as a young boy and didn't exactly know what he wanted but once he found something that he loved, he loved it with all his heart. He also says that even though he has been through a lot of troubles in the past he is able to move forward and leave the bad in the past.
This poem clearly develops the theme that love is what everyone relies on. In this poem, Lasky describes the new love she has and how that person has open her eyes. She now is able to see things that she has never seen before. This new vision for her makes her very happy and it is because of her new love that she can see more.
The song "Long Song" by Sara Bareilles is clearly about love but not in the obvious way that you would think. This song is dedicated to man but it's not an actual love song. The song is about how she shouldn't have to write him a love song to show her love. She should write a love song for him because she wants to not because he asks for one. She then says that if he needs her to write a love song for him then she's not going to stay with him. That is not what love is about. Love is when you want to do something for someone out of the kindness of your heart for no reason. Love comes easy, love comes when you least expect it to. Love is forever.
